Almost Over Yonder: Back to the real life...and it's all good

Diego and I spent the last week on what will probably be our last major vacation without children. We decided to take it easy and head to a sure for all location with the added bonus of being a Spanish speaking island as well. The Canary Islands are a hot spot off the west coast of Africa and a paradise for those of us looking to escape the winter blues. Right before we left Geneva a major storm hit the islands and we decided we would most likely stay on Tenerfie and not venture over to La Palma.

The last time we were in Tenerife together was in 2003, and as always we had a wonderful time. We met up with Rene and Maria Jose and enjoyed great weather, good food, the beach, spectacular views of Teide volcano and last but so not least, my new found love for DORADA SIN! This my friends has got to be the best non alcoholic beer in the world and I thoroughly enjoyed one every day with a big smile!

We were very lucky and avoided the storm that blew in the week before and the one that blew in the morning we returned. We were blessed with 24-25º, sunshine everyday and had a nice dip in the ocean. Everything from the flights in first class (thanks Rene!) to Carnival in Santa Cruz, to the arepas in Los Abrigos, to the sunburned shoulders and las papas with mojo rojo was perfect! We even hit up Siam Park, a water park close to Los Cristianos beach and spent the day in the wave pool and floating down the lazy river and sliding down silly water slides.

We usually have a good time on vacation, but this vacation was even better. It must be the high from expecting this little guy, whom as you can see has made his place known; do notice the 23 week bump I proudly display in most photos. We are loving the idea of being parents and I am loving being pregnant, it is one of the best feelings I think I have ever experienced. Tenerife was good and life is even better!
